Chair John Edgar read the minutes of the September 30 meeting. They were approved as read. Treasurer Frank Gillespie was not available. Annual dues are $15; those wishing to pay should also fill out the form so your contribution is credited to you. Chair Betty Smith let us know of recent break-ins and invited involvement in the Town Watch. She also informed us of an Abington Police Department website that allows residents to review the township's police activity. Jennifer Sherwood of the Abington EAC informed us of the Green Program and the Memorial Tree Program. We will pursue purchasing a memorial tree for Henry Washington in consultation with the family. Contributions were solicited. We plan to plant it on April 30, 2011. Those interested in the Green Program can consult www.eac-abington.org. The association was informed of the following fire department events: the Halloween Parade, the Pancake Breakfast, the Christmas Tree drive, and the Blood Drive. Tom Bogar, Republican candidate to be our State Representative, spoke for ten minutes. Josh Shapiro, our incumbent state representative and Democratic candidate, spoke for ten minutes. Mr. Bogar and Mr. Shapiro fielded questions for twelve minutes. Allyson Schwartz, our incumbent U.S. representative and Democratic candidate, spoke for ten minutes.
